To keep my business afloat I have to earn enough to pay my considerable expenses and make a reasonable profit. I charge a flat starting rate for most jobs, which covers my trip and initial work to a reasonable extent. You'll know that price before I visit your home.
I'll provide a detailed price quote before beginning work on any project that isn't likely to be covered by the initial fee. My quotes are firm--I will not raise the project price after the quote is accepted unless we encounter difficulties that weren't reasonably foreseeable. No work not described in the quote should be assumed or will be performed without your written consent. Please ask if anything is unclear.
I accept cash, local checks, and all major credit cards. Payment is appreciated within 3 business days of invoice receipt. Invoices not paid within 14 days will incur a late fee of 5%. If you need other accommodation, please let me know and we'll work it out.
I'm not permitted to do plumbing, gas, or electrical work in Minnesota. Our state regulates this strictly, which is a double-edged sword. It means that even competent, knowledgable folks can't change a toilet or light switch for you unless they're licensed as a plumber or electrician. Of course, it also protects you from dangerous or damaging work done poorly. Please don't request such work from me, as I don't know of any legal loopholes that would avoid risk to my business.
I don't do cleaning. That's not my specialty. I'll clean up after myself scrupulously, of course. Any of your dirt I clean up as a result is a happy accident and free of charge. I can recommend a good service for cleaning if that's helpful.
I like animals. I keep a few myself. However, it's a safety concern for both of us and an impediment to good work if yours is wandering into the work area. Please keep your little companions contained in another area while I'm at your home.
